We are delighted to announce that our Wills, Probate and Trusts team raised over £7,500 during November’s Will Aid campaign, which places us eighth across the UK in terms money raised for the scheme.
Will Aid is a unique campaign that involves solicitors from all across the UK to waive their Will writing fees and then encourage clients to make a voluntary donation to one of the Will Aid charities. The Will Aid scheme takes place in November each year, and supports ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trócaire (Northern Ireland). Participating solicitors have raised more than £20 million for the Will Aid charities since it launched 31 years ago. Making a Will through the Will Aid scheme not only gives you peace of mind by ensuring that your final wishes are carried out and your loved ones will be taken care of when you die, but also aids the charities involved in their life-saving work.
Sophie Hamilton and Kiran Panaich, our Wills, Probate and Trusts solicitors who took part in the scheme, said, “We were very pleased to have been involved in the Will Aid campaign. Making a Will with a professional solicitor is one of the most important things you can do to ensure that your loved ones are taken care of in the event of your death, and Will Aid gives us an excellent opportunity to reach people in our community who do not currently have a Will. It also means we can raise funds for nine incredible charities which make a huge difference to tens of thousands of vulnerable people both here in the UK and around the world.”
Campaign director Peter de Vena Franks said, “One in three people die in the UK without making a Will, leaving confusion and chaos behind – along with the sadness of losing a loved one. Will Aid encourages people to prepare this vital piece of paperwork at the same time as making a difference by raising money for charity. We are thrilled that Colemans Solicitors joined last year’s campaign as they have contributed a great deal to our fundraising efforts.”
